RFA Talk > Grateful for abstinence

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to give a little positive pitch for abstinence. By staying absitnent so I could work the Steps and working the Steps so that I could stay abstinent, I have been abe to cultivate a realtionship with a Higher Power who is eager to love and forgive me and help me through the difficult days. I don't need any other proof of a loving God than the fact that I am abstinent today. This has been one of those days that definitely would have contained a series of binges in the days before abstinence. When we say that when we are abstinent we can have the second thought, I think it's not only talking about eating, but about everything else I would use to take control of how I feel rather than to let God, the true solution, become the second thought. I just works so much better than any of the things I think up. :)

Hope you are all doing well and enjoying abstinent recovery. What a ride!

Love,
Kasey

Hi Kasey!
Thank you for your service and awesome post. Second thought was never an option for me prior to recovery. I am so grateful that I have the ability to pause and. do the next right thing concerning my food and other things that I deal with in my daily life. I am truly grateful!

May the peace of God be your empire
Keisha
