RFA Talk > Fish Oil

I just started this program 2 weeks ago. The first week was GREAT...lots of food and still lost 5 lbs. However, I forgot to add the 1T of fat a day.

So the second week I started the 1T of fat and I also had to get back on my fish oil I take for my heart and joints. (We were out of state for several weeks and I got off my routine of the fish oil)

After barley losing a pound that second week, I was wondering if fish oil would be considered in the 1T of fat you need a day and that why I didn't lose....

Should I leave the other fats off and just take my fish oil?? I really need to continue the fish oil......

Thanks for any thoughts

Hi Toni,

I don't have an answer for you, but I have a few thoughts. Do you know how much fish oil you are taking? Do you think you are taking a tablespoon each day? Maybe you can pierce one capsule and measure what comes out so you have an idea of how much fish oil you are consuming.

I would be concerned that if you cut out other oil entirely, your satisfaction with the food plan may falter, but that's just a guess.

While I know weight loss is a MAJOR motivating factor for trying this program, (it certainly was for me), we try to keep from focusing on weight loss and to help with that it's recommended that we weigh ourselves only once each month.

Trust the food plan (IT WORKS) and the weight will take care of itself. I've heard it said, and I think it's true, that when we focus on the weight, we lose abstinence, and when we focus on abstinence, we lose weight.

Welcome to the program! Maybe I'll "see" you at the Friday phone meeting one week.

Hi Toni, welcome! Hope to meet you on the Friday 8 pm call in meeting or on the Saturday 4:30 call in meeting! On fats - it really helps to have the full amount each day, preferably 1 tsp at each meal. It is amazing how the food plan works!
